Important Historical Events
As most people know, St. Patrick is a very cherished person in Ireland. Christianity is an important part of Ireland’s history. Sometime after St. Patrick came and brought Christianity to Ireland, the religion was actually banned because the King was of the Protestant faith. Many Christians in Ireland hold their religion close to them because of their hard past. Another main historical even in Ireland is the ever so famous Potato Famine. Potatoes are Ireland’s main crop and during the time of the potato famine around a million people died because this staple food was taken out of their diet. If you were to look at a map today, you would see that Ireland is split into Northern Ireland and Ireland. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom because of the Anglo-Irish War.
